
Beth Solomon has been practicing as a speech language pathologist for over
twenty years. She received her Masters Degree from Teachers College,
Columbia University in Speech Language Pathology and two Bachelors
Degrees in Communication Disorders and Elementary Education from the
University of Massachusetts.
Her clinical practice; research and areas of expertise lie in the diagnosis and
management of complex pediatric and adult speech language and swallowing
issues including: head and neck cancer, voice problems, neonatal, pediatric
and elderly dysphagia, neurological diseases and craniofacial disorders and
syndromes.
She is recognized as a national leader in the area of voice restoration for
laryngectomy patients. Beth has also been declared an Infant and Toddler
Specialist by the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families in the State
of Maryland. She has been appointed the Speech Language Pathology Liaison
to the Public Health Service and United States Surgeon General’s Office for a
consecutive five terms and a total of ten years.
Her past accomplishments include receiving the National Institutes of Health
Clinical Director’s award on three separate occasions. These included work
she performed in her clinical research in Head and Neck Cancer, her leadership
in teaching and training staff with tacheostomy issues and a data
transformation project.
Beth has mentored numerous graduate clinical and research students and
clinical fellows in various training programs. Beth is an avid guest lecturer to
many of the local graduate school speech pathology programs. She has
presented at numerous state, regional, national and international meetings and
has published extensively in the areas of swallowing, oral motor function,
head/neck cancer and rare diseases and syndromes.
